In different parts of the world and in different times, Tunisian crochet has been known by many different names. You may know it as Afghan crochet, tricot crochet, shepherd's knitting, hook knitting or railroad knitting.

Whatever its name, Tunisian crochet is a type of crochet in which each row is made up of two parts - placing loops on the hook, and working them off. The work is not turned, so one side of the work, usually the front, is always facing you.
